My career journey has been driven by a deep passion for public speaking and sharing knowledge. Initially, I found my calling as a corporate trainer, a role that allowed me to blend my natural communication skills with formal education. Encouraged by a friend, I joined a multinational corporation (MNC), where I expanded my expertise and eventually ventured into entrepreneurship. This new path not only included training but also management consulting. With three Master’s degrees, a wealth of experience, global travels, and multilingual abilities, I grew my company into a successful enterprise with multiple branches.

As my company expanded, I became increasingly aware of various challenges within corporations, such as gender bias, religious discrimination, and status-related issues. This realization sparked my interest in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), leading me to pursue a PhD to investigate these critical areas more deeply. My research has focused on practical applications and societal impact, aiming to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world solutions.

Transitioning into academia has been a rewarding experience, allowing me to contribute meaningfully to my field. I’ve embraced a non-traditional approach to research, teaching and learning, emphasising societal impact over conventional academic publishing. My work has involved presenting at conferences, writing academic papers, and engaging in executive education, blending my passion for research with a commitment to addressing real-world issues.

Now, as I consider a return to industry roles, I encounter new challenges. Some organizations may question my suitability for industry positions due to my academic background. However, I remain enthusiastic about bridging the gap between academia and the corporate world. I’m passionate about empowering people, and even in my role as a senior lecturer, I view myself more as a facilitator of learning rather than a traditional teacher. The skills and insights I've gained from my academic work—coupled with my extensive industry experience and dedication to helping others—prepare me to offer a fresh perspective and make valuable contributions to the industry.

Navigating these career transitions has been complex, but it has also provided me with unique opportunities for growth and impact. I am excited about the potential to leverage my diverse experiences and knowledge in new and meaningful ways, whether in academia or the industry.
